I needed to install lxml on my portable Django/Python development environment I talked about in this post: Setting up a portable Django development environment with virtualenvs on Windows to carry on a USB stick
Using “pip install lxml” did not work and the documentation on the lxml official website about how installing it on Windows is not very clear.
I was thus looking for a simple and quick way to install lxml on Windows without taking care of installing and setting the libxml2 and libxslt librairies.
I found this solution so I am going to share it with you in case you need it as well:
- Go on this page to download an Unofficial Windows Binaries: http://www.lfd.uci.edu/~gohlke/pythonlibs/#lxml
- Download the .exe of the right version you need
- Install it via:
Note that on the portable environment I defined on my previous post, easy install is available via easy_install (with an underscore) and not easy-install (with a hyphen) (This is Windows specific.)
As usual, feel free to leave comment and/or send me your feedback.
